The Story Of Ras Easterly

My walk with Ras Michael began over 15 years ago I was living in Los Angeles, at the time, and a mutual friend of Ras Michael and I thought that we should meet. I was on the business side of the music industry, working as a part-time A&R Tech, and part-time musician.

When Ras Michael walked into my door, I mean literally, he walked into my home in L.A., and my life changed forever. No longer would I be able to be vain and self-serving, there was a greater, more devine, purpose for my life. Ras spoke with such spirit and purpose that there was no doubt that he was Jah’s messenger, and when Jah calls you, you listen.

...and so began my walk with Ras...

It's funny to look back on our meeting. All that I knew of Ras Michael, at the time, was that he was a good man, and a drummer. Silly me, I had been blessed by one of Jah’s messengers and didn’t even know.

Well that visit was awesome, and little did I know, it was about to get even better. I was then invited to Ras Michael’s house for a Nyabingi Celebration, that was being held in his backyard. I had no idea what to expect, so I took my drum and set up close to Ras, at the front of the Love Circle, and it was clear to me who I was, what my purpose was, and how I was now walking in the world, and being a blessing to all.

I meet and convey the message of Jah’s mighty love for us all, and serving this purpose was truly who I was. I had not been serving the world. I had been chosen to serve the Most High, and I was to go forth as a simple man, offering the gifts of the spirit to all those who were in need.

...say What!! Why me?...

I could not possibly be worthy of such responsibility and honour. After all, I am only a man, and not a very good one at the time. Very gently, I heard, "Why not you? You are mine from your beginning until your end. I love you and will keep you in all your ways. Go forth into the world with your drum and raise the vibration and consciousness in the world. Laugh, sing, and play the many sounds of love. Above all, know that I AM THERE."

And so, I have my walk with Ras Michael, and my walk with Jah. Fourteen years ago, I started knocking on promoters doors, trying to convince them to bring Ras Michael to Canada. In April 2009, I am blessed by Sheri D Wilson of the Calgary Spoken Word, National Slam, to bring Ras to Calgary, and to my home, Canada. I am Blessed to share the stage, with my mentor, to deliver Jah's mighty word for all to hear and to fill the presents of Jah's mighty Love.
